MODERN DAY JUDGMENT
MODERN DAY JUDGMENT -- DOES GOD STILL DO IT?
Many Christians view the Judgment of God as dispensational. They think that we are living in a time of "grace" and that God no longer acts as He did in Old Testament times. Some believe He is holding back all judgment until the final day of Judgment. This of course is erroneous. There are certain conditions that warrant His immediate attention. I assure you, He continues to extend His wrath on a daily basis...
Psalm 7:11 God is a righteous judge, a God who expresses his wrath every day.
We can find several occasions where God unleashed immediate judgment in the New Testament, particularly in the book of Acts. One man was killed for taking credit for miracles, two people were struck down for lying to the Holy Spirit, and a warning was served to those who would dare to engage in Homosexual behavior.
2 Peter 2:6 and Jude 1:7 tell us that the destruction of Sodom and Gomor'rah serve as "an example" for future generations who would live in the same ungodly manner.
When the city of Sodom and Gommorah was visited with destruction, there were most likely people who denied it was an act of God. News of this incredible destruction must have travelled quickly to all regions. If it happened today, there would even be Christians denying it was an act of God's Judgment.
That's exactly what happened when the city of New Orleans was almost entirely destroyed by a devastating hurricane. Nobody wanted to call it judgment. But it was all too obvious, happening just days before one of the most vastly organized homosexual celebrations was about to take place. Here was a city that annually hosted one of the most wicked and prideful events demonstrating the most graphic displays of homosexuality and sexual perversion known to mankind. If there is anything we should know from scripture, it's that God has a low tolerance when that particular sin is flaunted.
Yet, some think all sin is equal in the eyes of God, that if He judged New Orleans, He should also judge other cities where other forms of sin are prevalent.
God does single out some sins as particularly deviant in contrast to others. He classifies homosexuality as "an abomination." He also lists six things He hates and seven which are an abomination. I suppose He could exact immediate judgment in such a case if He so desires. Sodom was singled out and destroyed for its overtly homosexual activity, while judgment was held back on other cities that were quite sinful in other ways.
It makes sense to me that if God wanted to judge a city, He could use that one as a warning for others. There were immediate acts of judgment on individuals in the book of acts which caused the fear of the Lord to spread throughout the land. God often unleashed judgment not only for the purpose of "judgment" but also for mercy... as in this case, to serve as an example for so others could be saved.
I find it odd whenever Christians perceive judgment as a thing of the past, or they find the subject awkward, as though it's a taboo to mention it. That reveals they lack understanding of God's nature and character. In fact, there are over 100 passages of scripture that reflect how God Loves judgement.
Psalm 37:28 For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
There is this modern day mindset that God wants to just bless everyone. Many current prophecies are laced with blessing and prosperity, but rarely ever mention judgment. Yet the prophets of old were known for prophecying, judgment the majority of the time. These modern day prophets are suggesting God wants to bless Canada in it's most wicked days in history. Here we are on the road to Sodom, leading the world in our legalization of same sex marriage and sencoring the mouths of those who dare to speak against homosexuals!! And all we hear are warm fuzzy prophecies of how God will use Canada "for the healing of the nations..." How ignorant and how arrogant. If there be any truth to them, it will not happen before we first encounter His severe judgment! Canada is in the direct line of God's judgment.
How can we know for sure? One indicator that His judgment is near is this... When the men of Sodom and Gommorah surrounded the home of Lot, threatening his family and visiting angels, the Lord's fury was kindled to an immense degree! It was at that point that God decided to destroy the city.
When the wicked threaten to invade the church and impose their lifestyle on God's people, judgment is around the corner. We are on the verge of seeing this happen in Canada... it s at the door. When the homosexual community decided it wasn't enough to be recognized in society, they took aim at the church... the day is fast approaching when they will attempt to force the church into a corner. At that time, they will find out what God meant in 2 Peter 2:6 and Jude 1:7
Psalm 9:7-8 But the LORD shall endure for ever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment. And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.
